583 Posts. #27 · Aug 6, 2015. I have a 33 hp Generac on my DC. Mine will backfire on shut-down. My theory is that it will pump some unburnt fuel into the engine and the hot exhaust causes a backfire. I let mine idle for about 30 seconds to cool off a bit before I shut it off and it never backfires on shut down.PostFri Dec 10, 2021 11:36 pm. I am planning on doing a valve adjustment on my 11kv generac standby generator. I understand the basics, valve cover removable, new gaskets, turning engine safely. I have read everything in this forum that I can find on this topic. My concerns are achieving proper TDC exhaust stroke, and proper torque.
