I would like to reload 20 gauge hulls with saboted slugs. The slug of choice would be the hornady 45 cal 300 grain xtp (I use this for my muzzle loader as well). The question is concerning the sabot. Ballistic products sells a collet cup sabot for the 20 gauge that would work but the cost is nearly a buck each!!.I am shooting 300gr Hornady SST slugs. The velocity is 2,000 fps. Simply reaching 1,600 fps with a 483gr (1oz) rifled slug requires proprietary powder that is not available to John Q Public. Getting a sabot and wad in the shell is tricky. Handloading a roll crimp requires that you crimp your shells with a drill and an overshot card.Roundball (RB) molds are available from many mold makers.
